Virgina Yerxa Memorial Tree

may 2012 013.jpg A Ginko tree was recently planted in memory of Virginia Yerxa. Delta Gamma Thau members came last Friday and Agustin planted the tree while Kay Spurgeon and other members commented about Mrs. Yerxa. It was a very nice ceremony an appropriate way to remember a wonderful woman who loved kids and supported Colusa schools and encouraged a love of reading.

Out-of-School Time Homework Help

The Colusa County Library is offering a free program that allows students of all ages (K-16) to go online and access free homework help through the website Tutor.com.   Tutor.com offers expert tutors who work one-on-one with the student in an easy-to-use online classroom between the hours of 2 pm-11 pm.  Students can also access web pages that provide reviews of hundreds of different topics.  Students are able to get help with homework, test prep, studying, proofreading, essay writing, projects and many other types of homework that may be assigned.

The Skillscenter Resource Library is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The website can be accessed from anywhere there's a computer and internet service available.  Students can even study and interact with a tutor in Spanish.  Tutor.com can also be accessed from iPad, iPhone and iPod touch devices.

To use this resource, students should go to the library website at www.countyofcolusa.org/library and look for the link to tutor.com.  Links to both the library and tutor.com are also provided on this page under "Quick Links."   Students will need the number from their Colusa County Library card to log on.

Birthday Book Program

The Burchfield School Book Program is one in which you can celebrate your child’s birthday in a special way and help our library collection continue to grow.  Participation in the program involves a $15.00 donation per book (one per child).  For this donation your child may select a new book from the Birthday Bookshelf located in our library.  The inside front cover of the book will have his or her name and birth date inscribed on a bookplate.  The birthday child also has the honor of being the first to check out the new book.  If you are interested in joining, please use the attached form.
